Sri Lankan government to expand Defence Services College to Kurunegala

Sept 03, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government plans to set up a branch of the Defence Services College in Kurunegala.

The government will expand the Defence Services Colleges to other parts of the country in order to accommodate children of armed forces and police personnel in the districts.

The first Defence Services College was set up in Colombo to accommodate children of security forces and police personnel.

The proposal to expand the Defence Services Colleges was made to the Cabinet of Ministers jointly by the President in his capacity as Defence Minister and Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena.

The proposal will develop the Wewagedara Junior School in Kurunegala as the Kurunegala Defence Services College.
