Kurunegala Plantations, Lucky Lanka win gold

Aug. 28, 2013 (LBT) – Kurunegala Plantations and Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company jointly won the national level gold award at the National Agribusiness Awards held on Sunday.
The National Agribusiness Council hosted its 8th consecutive National Agribusiness Awards concurrently with the Profood / Ag-Biz Trade fair on August 25 at the BMICH.
Kurunagela Plantations won this award for sustaining with adverse weather conditions, recording a production well over the national average and proving that government organizations too can compete with private sector with proper management.

Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company won the award for their innovations, branding, positioning, quality & working as a truly Sri Lankan company.
The national bronze award won by Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd for adding value to agricultural produce while retaining nutrition and delivering convenience with their flagship brand Samaposha.
The Large Category Gold winners are Brown & Co. Plc.; Hayleys Agriculture Holdings Plc.; Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd,; Kurunegala Plantations Ltd,; HJS condiments (Pvt) Ltd and Sunfrost (Pvt) Ltd.
Medium Category gold awards won by Hayleys Agro Farms (Pvt) Ltd and Quality Seeds Company (Pvt) Ltd.
Small Category gold awards won by Hayleys Agri Biotech (Pvt) Ltd.; Food & Nature (Pvt) Ltd. and Sanasa Insurance Company Ltd.
The Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana was the chief guest.  Dr D. B. T. Wijeratne , Add. Secretary  to the  Ministry of Agriculture, Harin Malwatte , CEO / Secretary General of Ceylon  Chamber of Commerce and many distinguish invitees graced the  occasion.
The National Agribusiness Awards are in recognition of performance and contribution by the formal business sector towards the development of agribusiness in Sri Lanka. The awards were sector based, grouped in to Small, Medium and Large categories while segmented in to the sectors of Input suppliers, Services, Producers, Processors, and Marketeers.
The selections were made by the competent panel of judges based on Business overview, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Social impact and Sector Specific performance.
